Liberation Theology with The Rev. Matt Seddon

Tuesday, February 20: Grace Hour
At The Library Coffee and Wine, 2612 Scott St, Houston, 77004
6:30-7:00 pm – Hangout time with our guest, The Rev. Matt Seddon
7-8:30 pm – Grace Hour

On Tuesday, February 20, Grace Hour will welcome The Rev. Matt Seddon.  Matt is the Rector of St. John’s/San Juan Episcopal Church in Austin, but before he became a priest, he was an archaeologist for twenty years in Peru, Bolivia, and the American West.  It was in Peru that Matt had his first encounters with Latin American theologies of liberation that spoke of God’s saving work in a radically different way than our North American personalist concepts of what it means to be “saved”.

Matt will join us on February 20 at The Library Coffee and Wine House (2612 Scott St, Houston, TX 77004).  Half-an-hour prior to our normal start time, we will open up the tab and have some informal hangout time with Matt.  Then, we will get going from 7-8:30 pm with a little Liberation Theology 101.  On March 6, we will take a look at another liberation theologian, James H. Cone, whose 2011 book, The Cross and the Lynching Tree, is well worth your time.
