Get help with FAFSA

top-5-fafsa-faqs-for-2016It’s that time of year.  The new 2017-2018 FAFSA (https://fafsa.ed.gov/) arrived on October 1, and it allows you to use your 2015 tax info.  That means you do not have to wait to apply for financial aid.  In fact, given limits on school and state funding, the earlier you file the better.

We know that filling out your FAFSA forms can be a daunting task, and Canterbury is here to help.  Throughout October, Houston Canterbury volunteers will be present at Community Night at the Island at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church on Thursday nights to answer your questions and help you file your FAFSA, or TAFSA.  If you bring the right documents (check out the list below), the whole process takes about 30 minutes.  Feel free to bring any additional questions you may have about the college application process too.

Not available on Thursday nights?
Cafe College, a program of Project Grad, will be hosting FAFSA Saturdays every Saturday from now until December 17, from 10 am to 2 pm, at their location at the Carnegie Library just north of downtown.

Wherever you go to complete your FAFSA, you will need to gather some documents.  Check out the FASFA checklist to get a full list that takes into consideration your citizenship and dependency status.
